The older series lenses are readily available on the used market. And I
wouldnt be so quick to claim the older lenses have purple fringing problems.

I think you and JCO missed the point of the word "current" in my
original post. These are the 50mm lenses that you can buy new from
Pentax right now. I only mentioned the DA* 55 because it's only 5mm
longer.

Besides, I'd bet if they'd included those old lenses, the DA and DFA
would still do better (especially in the purple fringing test).
