Yeah, I'm guessing the silicon in the camera is just about exactly the right size to support the imaging mission, with little or nothing left over to support the "download" mission. For me, though, it wouldn't be terrible. I don't need full real time. The trick for me would be the interaction between "opportunistic downloading" and me needing to switch cards because I just filled one up.
