The theoretical advantage DA lenses have over FA lenses when used on APS-C format is not so much they are designed for a sensor is that they are designed for APS-C not 24x36mm format and hence dont need to cover as large an image circle. This means they can use simpler more efficient optical designs which improve both resolution and even contrast across the APS-C frame if the design is radical in the case of the FA lens.
