Secondly, why do you feel an FF AF camera viewfinder must be smaller than a FF manual focus viewfinder?

I've compared the Nikon D700's viewfinder to that of my K10D with accessory 1.17x diopter magnifier, and the difference was not huge; certainly not a big enough improvement to justify the expense of moving to FF just for it.
