This rocking distance is less than a hair's width, right? Mine has
always done that, from new. If you push on the front, eg against the
lens hood, it clunks ever so slightly and you can see and feel lateral
movement, but it's a sub-millimeter distance. I assume it's because
plastic can't be machined to the same tolerances as aluminum (eg Ltd
lenses).
