An alternative that may solve part of your problem: Pearstone.com has a "Compact Battery Charger" with many different cradle modules available; I have one that works with the K5 D-L190. It plugs directly to the wall with no cord. (It also has a USB port so that you can charge any USB-powered gadget at the same time.) They also sell NIMH AA compact chargers that similarly plug directly to the wall. You still would be using two outlets and two different charging units but at least you wouldn't need to carry cords . . .
