Apple's Camera Connection kit would be a nice route for hardwired transfer, but Apple doesn't allow it work with iPhone; if you jailbreak your phone, there are tools that will work; i think an iPad Mini with 4G would be useful for this kind of reportage (it also has a camera equivalent to the iPhone 4)
