I have to admit, I am having much better luck getting good exposures
when I go full-manual with an M lens.
I don't quite nail it on the first try, but after two or three, the
histograms look much better. Sooner or later, it'll start clicking with me.
Now, it may be a bad idea to begin with, but I'm curious if it would be
possible to use the AF200T or AF200S on-camera while using my Promaster
as a slave?

Well, crap. ;)
On the plus-side, when I finally learn manual flash well enough to
get consistent and reasonably predictable results, I'll be set!
It is my experience that it is far easier to get consistent and reliably
predictable results with manual flash than it is with automatic flash.
When you put a flash on manual, you know what it's going to do, with the
possible exception of Pentax flashes which have a tendency to spontaneously
decide that you don't really know what you need.

Sorry, Walt, these are strictly useful now as fully manual. They
support TTL, but your cameras don't. And they don't have any slave
functions at all.
To use these wirelessly you need to get some cheap wireless triggers,
like the Cowboy Studios NPT-04's ($20 for Tx/Rx).

Thanks, Bruce.
Do you suppose they'd be good as slaves when used with optical triggers?

The AF200T is a pretty good fully manual flash for lower power uses. I
just bought one for $30 to fit inside my small 18" softbox. The only
problem, besides having a low GN is erratic recharge times. The AF200S
is similar but less useful as its power setting is less adjustable.

So, I came an opportunity to buy this bunch of photo equipment -- *for

paltry sum of $200* -- and couldn't pass on it.
