I'm not real familiar with the Fuji film, but I can offer my opinion in
regard to Portra 160NC. I use this film for portraits, because it is not
oversaturated. The colors are realistic and never become clownish.
However, when rated at 160 with my meters (which are calibrated), the
contrast is insufficient for my needs. I do most of my color printing
digitally, so I can pump it up in PhotoShop, but I prefer to do as
little tweaking as possible. Thus, I expose it at 100 asa, which yields
the level of contrast that I like. It's all subjective of course, but
Portra 260 (and as near as I can determine, Fuji NPS appear to be
underexposed and very thin at 160). Yet I like the moderate saturation
level of both these films. I don't think that's a contradiction.
