I've always thought that people who say that don't really know how to 
use their meter to its fullest and are getting smacked by the film's 
relatively narrow exposure latitude.  This stuff ain't Kodak Max: you 
actually have to be well within the exposure ballpark to make a 
printable neg.

If I am using my Sekonic, I meter at 160 for NPS and NPC.  If I am using 
the LX and paying attention, I set the meter to 160.  If I'm setting a 
camera to 'auto' and running around grabbing shots, I'll give it an 
extra half stop to be safe. ;)
