For $300 you could replace it outright with a used one.   Maybe even twice.  I 
wouldn't put that much money into that old body.  Get a used replacement K5 for 
double that money and you'll never look back.  It's an amazing leap forward.

If the photos look good, then it's OK (right?).  What else do you do with the 
lens other than take pictures?
