Based on their practice from the last few years, I expect that they will
announce a major new camera just after the Christmas buying season.

There's Photokina in September, but it's every other year, and this ain't it.
Also, Pentax rarely announces new cameras at trade shows. New product
tends to be announced as soon as it's ready, whether that comes just
before, just after or nowhere near a photo trade show.
