alluring scene; yes, there is a slight violet flare (and some CA in the branches), but it's far better than most lenses can do

i'm curious what aperture that was shot at; i often shoot into the sun with my SMC 15/4 and get good results; as pointed out to me by Alex, this test suggests that HD and SMC versions of this particular lens have almost the same flare characteristics and the major difference is due to the blades (see the starburst):

however that is a night shot and i'd like to see a side-by side shot like yours, of the SMC and HD 15mm in daylight too see whether HD improves contrast substantially; that might be more important to me than the starburst
