Steve,
I can't do the comparison to the DA15/4 Limited.  Were you talking
about the SMC A15/4?
In any case to answer Ken, I suppose that is flare or some such around the sun.
Personally, I'm quite happy as none of my similar photos with the sun
in frame show anything worse.
No little dancing apertures parading across the photo like Bill
alluded to or veiling flare.
They have really started to bug me in movies and videos.
If you've got better than this Ken, you should show us.
