Peter, it is a matter of finding a way to persuade. Persuasion may be 
very indirect. I much rather I did not even have to think of these 
things, because they are far beyond realm of my knowledge.

My heart goes out to all Israelis who live with the fear of rocket

There is no justification for what Hamas does: it is criminal.

HOWEVER, Israel's response is completely out of proportion,
heavy-handed and seems bound to be ineffectual or worse.

Here's what I know:

Hamas is prepared to sacrifice innocent Palestinian civilians to win
world opinion and sympathy.

The government and military of Israel is prepared to sacrifice
innocent Palestinian civilians for all sorts of reasons that are
probably best discussed elsewhere.

As of last night 154 Palestinians and 0 Israelis have died since this
latest escalation started.

Each side blames the other and claims total justification for their
actions.

Someone needs to step up and choose peace. No one seems prepared to
do that. Accordingly this horrendous situation. Will continue.

counting.
* 6:20 - I suggest we return. Girls start to stand up as they were
sitting
on the floor. We hear another rocket alarm. The girls return to
sitting on
the floor.
* 6:25 - We hear some more booms. Anat keeps her count. The doors
around us
start to open as our neighbors drag themselves out of bed. Few
minutes later
we return home to start our day.

Now comes the emotional part. It's been about a week since this has
started.
Only one list member, blessed be his name, has written to me off the
list.
Frankly, your silence is deafening...
