Boy that's the truth! (about cheap printer , expensive ink)

I dont' expect to be making _lots_ of big prints... I love my R220 - very little problem with the one I have currently, although the previous one was a lemon...

My prints are better than most of what I got from Bay photo through smugmug...

I'm using a Canon, Pixma iX6520, yea, I know it's not an Epson, but as long
as you use Canon paper, or something close, you get very good results,
pretty much what you'd expect from a good lab. The printer itself retails
for between $100 and $150, with a list price of about $350. Prints up to
13x19" prints.

That's the good news. The really bad news is it's been superseded. However
it's repalacement the Canon iX6820 is pretty much the same printer with the
addition of WiFi connectivity, I can't vouch for the replacement's print
quality, but I assume it's probably at least as good.

The Good it's not a lot bigger than an 8x10 printer, image quality very good
to exultant, it actually looks good when not in use, and comes with full
size, not sample ink cartridges.

The bad, like most inkjets, it drinks ink like a drunken sailor, and really
doesn't work with very heavy weight paper, 140gsm about 11 mil thickness
would be the max I'd use, also doesn't do a particularly good job printing
mat papers, glossy and semi gloss would be the way to go. It also must just
must be exorcized regularly to get anything like decent ink usage.

It's a nice printer. I got mine for the rock bottom price. I haven't seen
it or it's replacement for less than $149.00 for a long time.

P.S. If this post is incoherent my excuse is I've had a few shots of The
Glenlivet, but really it is a really nice printer, especially for the price.
