Don't know exactly how it works, but one of the reviewers indicated it
being used to adjust for the nodal point.

I just picked one up from B+H after looking for a reasonably priced one
for quite some time. If you'r e going to be using it alot, this may not
be for you but for the occasional use, it fits my requirement. Low stack
