comment about that. My next thought was, when did the Statue of Liberty
become a crossdresser, but then I thought about the statue itself and
decided I already knew the answer...

No, Frank, she is not texting. Although the image doesn't show it
very well, she is counting her money! I tried to get a better shot of
her wad of bill, but she concealed it when she noticed what I was up

Originally, I started to frame the shot because we were in The City to
see Penn and Teller's live Magic show just off Times Square in the
Marquis. I wanted the two of them staring down at the Statue of
Liberty, but when I saw what she was doing, I tried to capture that as
well.
There already was a controversy over costumed characters posing for
photos with tourists and demanding money, but it has really escalated
with the appearance of topless women wearing only g-strings and body
paint:
