I'll look online for some local shows - never thought about rock swap
meets. Camera and computer swap meets have gone by the wayside, I assume
due to eBay.
There are a few rock shops within a 100 mile radius but not many are
truly local. The place I visited last week is closing till April after
this weekend (it is only open Fri-Sun). Rocks are pretty inexpensive but
not as inexpensive as bugs!

Thanks, Steve. The rock shop I visited just opened a few months ago

rather small. A show like you describe sounds like it would offer a
lot of
potential subjects.
there are likely some large annual shows closer to you as well, but
the Denver show is supposed to be on of the biggest; it is like going
to a giant mineral/gem/fossil/jewelry/dinosaur museum
