Ron-
Thanks. Money is definitely a consideration in this whole thing-
sorry to say, but if it were not a consideration, I'd have a bunch
of Nikons- FM-3, F5, F100 and a ton of lenses. Heresy, I know, but
the much greater availability of Nikon equipment, especially for
rental makes it possible to use a 300mm f2.8 for a weekend, if I
really need one. :-)

I don't have any AF bodies, but I may get one in the future- the
ZX-5n looks really nice.

Size and weight are relatively unimportant- the FA24/2.0 isn't a huge
brick, is it?

The 24-90mm is rather expensive, much like the 28-80 f2.8. The primes
are a lot cheaper.

Taka

I was faced with these sort of similar question many years ago, Taka.

First ask yourself. Do you have an AF body? If not, you do yet one in
your future? If so, I'd get an AF lens; it can be use on both bodies.
If $$$ is no object, then what the heck, get both MF and AF lenses ;-).
There's a subjective feel to the MF focusing ring that you can't get in
the AF focusing ring, IMHO.

For your Super Program, unless size and weight is unimportant, I'd go
with the SMC Pentax-A 24mm f/2.8 if MF lens is what you want. You'll be
able to use the lens in programmed and shutter priority mode. I have
one that I use on my MX body that I'll be buried with ;-). It's
incredibly small and light and fit in my small waste bag. I find myself
setting the aperture first with this lens and shutter speed later (i.e.
aperture priority AE) anyway since controlling depth is most often what
I want. Keeping checking eBay. It took me 10 years to find mine (mint
condition) at a photo show (before eBay that is)!

Personally, I don't like using zoom on my MF body and all of my zoom
goes onto my PZ-1 body. But if you consider a zoom, how about the new
24-90mm? I'm drolling all over one thinking about it ;-).

Just one of my 24 opinions,

Hi all- What do you all recommend for a good wide-angle lens? The only
new lens I can find wider than 28mm that isn't really expensive is the
24mm f2.0 SMCP-FA IF lens that B&H sells for $350. Any experience w/
this lens? I'll be using it on a MF camera (Super A, Super Program), so
if the focus ring has a super-short travel, I'm in trouble. Taka -
