This page explains how Nik Collection does not include a RAW converter: http://edknepleyphoto.com/2012/02/05/snapseed-nik-programs-and-raw-conversion/ What you experience when you try to open a RAW file with Nik depends upon other codecs you have installed that handle that sort of file. (So some people may be under the impression that Nik *can* convert RAW files.) So I think, normally, if you are working on a RAW, convert to full TIFF first and then work on that, a copy of the RAW.
