Christine - I will register a dissenting opinion. Of your samples, I thought the next-to-last construction shot was the best. I could see it being used as the cover of a brochure or project report.
I have done very little so far. Mostly played with SilverFX, looking at presets that are said to provide the look and feel of B&W films of a bygone era. I guess I don’t have enough nostalgia, most of the effects make me realize how nice it is to use digital and not struggle with limitations of film! Not sure what the differences are in our setups. I have had no issue moving DNG files into one of the Nik modules.
