Mishka and others wrote much about Film Scanners:
I recently purchased teh Canon CanoScan FS4000 US
It does upto 4000 dpi and 48 bit color, but as you \
know, most pc's struggle with 24 bit, unless you have
linux and can do 36 dpi graphics with the GIMP.

I am very happy with the results and coupled with
my Epson Stylus Photo 1290 I can achieve good results
without much fuss. Be aware though, scanning at 4000dpi
creates image sizes of 60 Meg+ but it does allow you
to produce fine A3 prints.

I am very happy with this scanner and am about to put
the old Epson FilmScan 200 on ebay. The only problem
I have found is the lab I use cuts the negs into 4
and puts them in a nice little sleeve. The scanner
will take a neg strip up to 6 frames, but the lab does
not have sleeves for that length....

Kind regards
Kevin
