I like Bob's posts. There's almost always an obscure new word to look up.

Sorry, Larry, but I do not appreciate the presentation (even though there
is some reasonable rational behind it.): Too much fluff/hype and
very little essence. All of that could be summarized in one
sentence: "Do not OVERDO!" or "Use your head, you stupid!".

Ten videos of 4-10 minutes each for that stuff? It could easily
have been covered in one 5-minute video. This is a prime example of
the misuse of video on the web: Doing it because it's easy to do
(just use screen capture software for the video and real-time
narration) rather than because it's the best way of delivering the
message. I see tons of things like that that are only in video form
because those responsible are too fscking lazy to *write* (as
provide a few screen shots).

Back in the Renaissance we used to send minstrels strolling round
Europe singing at painters telling them what not to do with oil
paint. How we laughed when that bloke from Vinci overdid his sfumato
gimmick! Every bloody time, especially on that soppy cow,
Gherardini's missus.

And that Brunelleschi, would he draw a proper picture with everything
piled on top of everything else? Would he fuck! It was all
perspective, perspective, perspective. Knobhead. I bet he got his
idea for the dome when saw himself in a mirror.

That Michelangelo though, he knew what he was doing. Big muscly
blokes with tits, that's what a proper painting's about, I can tell
you. None of that poncy chiaroscuro crap from him.

Cheers! Vasari
