I believe you're right about user-hoots and Zuckerberg, but I don't
think the majority of Facebook's users constrain themselves like you do,
Paul. Part of its success is being so much more than what you list. A
platform for discussing news, sharing images, playing games, promoting
your business, seeking out fellow proponents of your favourite
conspiracy theories, etc. etc.
It is also an international place, not just a playground for the
nude-o-phobics of certain circles of the American society. Well, ok, I
admit we have some of those circles up here in the Frostpit too, but we
certainly don't let them impose ridiculous limits on the freedom of
press/speech, and the necessity of sometimes showing unpleasant images
to raise awareness in the society.
And interestingly, when pressed, Facebook agrees. At least in this case.
