You will certainly get a twisted view if you rely for your information on hate-sheets like the Express and Mail - the BBC is a much more reliable and balanced source, although I have to say it's been dumbing down a lot recently.
I'd like to add the Guardian to the list. It has a series quite appropriately called "The Long Read". You won't find better journalism than this.
