Ken, I agree that not many newbies care about the nuts and bolts of exposure, 
but I think Larry’s point is that it would help them if they would only take 
time to understand.
Today I heard a well-done presentation by an art history professor, the general 
context was Picasso’s animal images, but the point was that Picasso invented 
new ways of seeing. But at the base, he was a superb draftsman. He could have 
done anything because he knew the basics. Today’s beginning digital camera 
users can “use” the camera/phone and produce images, but they won’t likely find 
their own vision until they understand their craft fundamentals.
