        The meter switch on your F, due to the open-aperture
        metering on the then new SMCTaks, became more of a DOF
        preview accessory. With the pre- SMCTaks, like the Supers,
        you activate this DOF function *and* the meter w/ the switch
        to take your meter reading at the "stopped down" aperture
        which will be automaticly used when you shoot the frame.
        That's what the little pin does - it pushes that bars at 
        the bottom of the lens throat/mount.
