South Africa is now in lockdown too. The authorities are trying hard to contain it but the number of confirmed cases has shot up from 1 to 62 in a week. Schools, Universities, Cinemas, Theatres, Restaurants, Churches, etc restricted/closed. Serious panic buying started in the big centres yesterday. It will likely spread to the Platteland in the coming days. All sporting events have been cancelled/postponed until April 15th when further announcements will be made. Sportsmen have been urged to keep in training. No financial interventions yet. Stock market has fallen about 35% in 10 days, 12% yesterday after the US rate cut. The SA economy was already in recession & now this.

A six-county-wide mandate has put me under Covid-19 House Arrest today. I'm not supposed to leave

I'm glad I went to the grocery store as well as got a haircut over the weekend.
And also glad I went to the gym today for a good hour and a half session and
took a 10 mile bicycle ride. (Nothing's going to be open except for banks, post
offices, gas stations, hospitals, and grocery stores … Not much point to going
for a cycle ride and cafe break when there'll be no cafes or restaurants open.)
Oh yes, and washing my hands and face every ten minutes: I'm not going to run
out of TP, but I am going to run out of soap. LOL!

Seriously, I plan to spend the next couple of weeks doing my home workouts,
cleaning the office, catching up on the photography that has been waiting for
me to have the time, playing the piano, watching a few videos, and reading a
dozen or two books that I've been meaning to get to. About ten events I was to
attend between March and May have all been cancelled now, etc etc;
disappointing but, eh, there'll be other events to go to.

Not much I can do other than deal with it.
No fear or panic solves anything.

With luck, there'll still be some semblence of the world I remember living in
left when I open the door on April 8.

usw,
G
