Currently we have approx 300 confirmed cases. Now, authorities published some stats. Out of these 300, several dozen that were tested and confirmed have no symptoms whatsoever...
So, at least here they say that they need all these measures only to keep health system from total crash... They are probably saving lives as direct side effect of these measures, and they say so, but the underlying reason is more pragmatic... Deep sigh... The world will never be the same again...
