I have the Epson V750 pro where the whole top lights up when scanning negatives
& slides.
I sometimes need to scan negatives that don't fit the regular holder; really OLD
family photos taken on dog only knows what kind of camera ... probably one of
those old Kodak pocket folders.
I got a package of 65# black card stock and use that to frame the negatives on
the scanner bed. Don't even have to cut it. I can make the frame by just
overlapping several sheets leaving a hole in the middle the size of the negative
I want to scan.

If your scanner is like mine, is there any chance you could make a frame up
yourself with cardboard and and X-acto?
