One of my ongoing frustrations with this trip to the northwet is my frankenbook
Mac has been crashing programs, or crashing the whole computer multiple times a
day. It most frequently crashes Lightroom, often while I’m imporitng files
from the sd card.
Over the past couple of days I’ve had three imported dngs show file corruption.
Big bands of bad data. They have all been on the same Sandisk extreme SD
card, and if I delete the files and reload them, I get the same problem.

I don’t know if the problem is on the (pretty damn new) SD card, the K-1, or if
somehow the laptop is corrupting the files by crashing during an import. I
have had problems with not being able to remount files using the same card
reader after a crash.

The first thing that I’ll try is just to stop using that card. I suppose that I
could also try activating the write protect tab before importing files. I did
recently (last summer) send the K-1 off to precision for an expensive repair,
but they barely give better than a stoplight warranty.

Sigh. I hope that it’s just the laptop.

I guess that I can also try a fresh reformat of the card when I get home. When
I’m on road trips I don’t delete files from SD cards until I get home, because
I don’t trust backups.
