You're right, Anthony, it is just the way you have described, and therefore it does seem unusual (at least from my experiences with such 2-touch zooms as the A 28-135/4, the A 35-105/3.5, the A 35-70/4, the VS1 90-180/4.5 Flat Field, etc.).
