You're welcome. It could be that the negative was scratched in the
camera before you processed the film. If it's near the end of the 
roll,
the scratch could have occured in the developing tank if the film was
miswound on the reel. And, as some members have noted, it is even
possible to scratch a neg while pulling it in or out of a film 
sleeve. I
have no experience with "no scratch" chemicals. However, using a
hardening fixer will help prevent scratches.
