Cheers, Cotty< yes. you tell PS how much physical memory to allocate and everything else goes to scratch disk. unless you change the configuration in your preferences, Windows Photoshop allocates 10% of available physical RAM when it is starting up. i changed that to 90% knowing that the virtual memory swapfile will expand when i launch another application after Photoshop has already been loaded. IOW, Photoshop's initial allocation of RAM is based on a flakey calculation that is a relic of compatibility with old Mac OS limitations. Herb...
