A good first step would be to identify a wiki package that does what we

Oh sure, next thing you're going to be having us write a spec. ;~)

In my mind, this means it's gotta run on PA's servers, be able to use
postgres as a backend, be easily customizable in the visual sense in
case we ever decide to pretty up our web presence, and not be
huge/resource hoggy.

Well, I know there are other issues involved, but does it really have to run on PA;s servers? Not that I'm saying it shouldn't for any reason necessarily, just that there are options of hosted wikis (Jot and PB Wiki come to mind). Obviously, we would have the whole issue of it not being hosted on the pdxruby.org domain, but it *is* an option.

Another question is whether we want to write our own or use an
off-the-shelf wiki engine.  I've only ever used Instiki (which is more
or less not an option) but i2 might be worth looking at?  I don't know
if there are any other options available for Ruby.

Are you saying that it needs to be written in Ruby? It seems to me that there are a lot of high quality wikis out there that aren't. I agree that it's obviously preferrable given the nature of the group, but I think having a solid wiki for group communication is a bigger issue than strict Ruby centrism.
