I think that the biggest problem with the previous Wiki was that it suffered bit-rot rather quickly. Especially now that many of the links and meeting minutes previously exchanged on the Wiki are ending up in the even planner, (a.k.a. cat herder) I wonder exactly what kind of content we're hoping to host in the Wiki.
If it's primary "encyclopedic" data, then it may indeed be the case that a Wiki is the best possible repository. I doubt whether the PDX.rb wiki is going to (or even should) become an authoritative source of information about any subject sufficiently broad to attract outside attention, especially given the fact that most everyone in the group probably already has their own blog. So, before we start testing out and customizing Wiki packages, I ask this: what kind of information are we trying to capture with a Wiki, and can it be better served by a more structured model, like what we attempted to do with the "herder"? -Lennon _______________________________________________ PDXRuby mailing list [email protected] IRC: #pdx.rb on irc.freenode.net http://lists.pdxruby.org/mailman/listinfo/pdxruby
