I've been researching this as well.  I'm a current TextDrive customer, but like many, have had a fair bit of downtime.  Plus, I want to switch to Mongrel, and they don't have a solution for that (Lightty has been less than stable for me there).  I also want to go VPS.  The main two I've been looking at so far are Rimuhosting.com as someone mentioned, and a newer one, http://www.slicehost.com/.  Slicehost is very inexpensive.  See the recent onrails blog post about it (that's how I found out about it).  I've chatted with them as well, and they seem pretty good.  They seem a bit more bare bones than some of the other VPS vendors that include cPanel/Plesk/Webmin, but I guess it depends on what you're after.
