I think Lennon laid out some pretty good reason why CL won't tear down the 'walled garden'.
I'm not really impacting the servers, 1 rss pull every 15 minutes isn't causing much impact.
Here's another though I'll bet others already had but I'll throw it out there anyway -- could you run the Craigslist scanning in the users browser? So it's the end user who has to conform to the "terms of use". Or will your algorithm not work as JavaScript in a browser (or are you reluctant to expose your intellectual property that way?)
Yes, I've been trying to think of ways around it, but nothing so far. It really isn't something you could do with JS, but I do like that idea.
