Can Protel 99 SE SP6 import gerbers? I usually never mess with gerbers (I hate the things) but someone I know asked me to make changes on his design and he only has the gerbers. I am assuming that you can't import with Protel since every time the word gerber comes up the forum the mention of Camtastic is not far behind (what a great marketing name on that software package)
I know Camtastic is popular but I don't want to shell out $3000 for the full version just to help my buddy. Is there any cheaper gerber editor? The board is not overly complicated so I might just redo the board from scratch. Editing gerbers just seems so messy. The though of putting vias in gerbers makes me shudder.
