Bob,
You're very wrong about people never leaving. 34% of my retained customer
have switched to PADS and from what I understand many more will jump ship if
this $3k upgrade goes into place.

You know, Altium has been f***ing over their existing user base for years
(including me since 98), yet none of us ever leave... Apparently there's
no
better alternative at this price point.

i got a call to join the web cast
and give them money to upgrade
she mentioned something like that the upgrade door would be closed (or
much
more expensive if i didn't upgrade) at some date coming soon!
... end of this year i think she said
i spent of good deal of money on 2 DXP/P2004 licenses which are still
gathering dust i will probably changeover at some point but have not seen
the urgent need as of yet
i spent the money so that i could retain a reasonable cost of
future-proofing which now seems in doubt - (^#*^(*^(*
the sales person (can't remember her name, Alexis or some 'A') touted the
FPGA integration over and over and could not seem to understand that since
i
have no need for this it had no value to me
ds
in case someone didn't get the email hype from them and is interested,

Why is it that Altium always does this? Release confusing and
contradictory information that simply riles and inflames their existing
customer base. What a bunch of useless wankers!
I would love to understand the mentioned licensing levels/versions
but I couldn't find anything that explained it in their released
information. Typical crap. I do not know if it was simply the existing AD
verses Nexar, verses viewer licensing or something new that would allow
licensing of a package of PCB/Sch features without all the FPGA stuff that
we will never use. But no, they release a bunch of double talk that says
nothing intelligent and imparts no useful information. Even the whole idea
of the release announcement is misconstrued and totally untrue. Wankers!

There is no new release yet - despite the press release. The new
version of AD is still in Beta testing.
