Brad,

"Release confusing and contradictory information that simply riles and inflames their existing customer base."

It does two things: Firstly it induces the weak panicker to shell over the money. Secondly it psychologically prepares many other to perceive a bargain when they offer a slightly more reasonable rate. The unexpected consequence is that 14 of my regular customers have inquired and or requested quotes with regard into converting them into competing products.

No, the mentioned levels are unclear. we must all be simple minded wankers ourselves, lest we be deliberately led by misinformation. Relax the tree will shake down and they will publish it all........eventually!

I agree that the viewer should be a free unencumbered download or shipped with each CD for free distribution to clients. As for the FPGA and other bits that most of us don't use, well hey they figure you have a new big hard drive and they want a share of it.

You're free to vent all you like here. Just don't go over there a shove your foot up anyone's @ss.

Joe

Why is it that Altium always does this? Release confusing and contradictory information that simply riles and inflames their existing customer base. What a bunch of useless wankers!

I would love to understand the mentioned licensing levels/versions but I couldn't find anything that explained it in their released information. Typical crap. I do not know if it was simply the existing AD verses Nexar, verses viewer licensing or something new that would allow licensing of a package of PCB/Sch features without all the FPGA stuff that we will never use. But no, they release a bunch of double talk that says nothing intelligent and imparts no useful information. Even the whole idea of the release announcement is misconstrued and totally untrue. Wankers!

Sincerely,

There is no new release yet - despite the press release. The new
version of AD is still in Beta testing.
