Hey Brad, I am trying to move component primitives (as per your first email). The subject wasn't as clear as it should have been. I was thinking the "pad 1 designator" but realized while writing the body of the message that using "pad 1 marker" was much less likely to create confusion, but didn't reread the subject.
I like your idea of creating a temporary footprint in which I can make the desired change. Its quick and fairly foolproof. Thanks again, Darcy -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Brad Velander Sent: August 9, 2006 9:44 AM To: Protel EDA Discussion List Subject: Re: [PEDA] Global position change of a component designator Darcy, This morning while checking emails I noticed something about your query that I hadn't yesterday. In the subject you state you want to change the position of the component designator, in the body of you message you say a component primitive. The two are very different. Component primitives can be moved by the methodology that I mentioned yesterday. Component designators cannot be moved by the same method as component designators are a system generated item that isn't placed within the creation of the library land pattern. I don't believe there is any way to move them collectively within P99SE, there may be a way to do it within DXP/AD using selection and offsetting from the original locations by certain X and Y coordinate statements. In DXP on you can embed PCBs into a panel with step an repeats. When you do it this way any change made on the initial PCB is reflected on th panel ad also the gerbers when generated.
