thanks jon & aj i hadn't considered the printers (generally use adobe PDF 'printer'), and am not totally out of the woods yet
BUT ... i think i may have nailed the issue (pending more futzing) first let me say that i went on to demonstrate that the behavior was the same on SIX machines (some of which had been color customized) which got me thinking it must be ME somehow that led to this tentative discovery: i was trying to think about what was common in all my actions, i each case i had let the PPC file open the PCB file, i often work that way a customer needs a print, i find the right setup and open that, select a PCB when it prompts, push rebuild and the PCB is opened by the PPC process this time i closed the files, closed the program, opened the PCB first, then the PPC and now the colors *will* select it is a bug and AFAIK this is the workaround if it proves otherwise i will report back, only tested on one box so far, but confirmed by cliff on the forum Dennis Saputelli _______________________________________________________________________ CONTACT INFORMATION: _______________________________________________________________________ Integrated Controls, Inc.
