True, but that can be a subjective experience. Most fonts with unique
character sets (ie, easily resolvable differences in all characters) are
a slower read than fonts with less structure, at least for some such as
myself (I noticed several years ago that I found myself re-reading
sentences and paragraphs much more often than with documents presented
in Arial, and I still do). My unqualified theory is that the (my) brain
has to deal with more complex visual cues and so has to process slightly
longer in order to validate a given character. As the (my) brain is
attempting to read at rate dCHAR/dt (standard reading rate for the (my)
brain) it chokes on the datastream because it is busy processing the
extraneous ornation used by some others to distinguish characters that I
routinely distinguish by vernacular connotation. That is, I stumble
because my brain gets caught up in all the flowery crud that others use
to figure out if an author meant it to be interpreted as a 1 or an "l",
when I would use the words wrapping said character to determine if the
author meant 1 or "l". The only time when that becomes anything of a
nuisance to me is when a serial number, passcode, or similar is
presented in print form, and mostly, that's when it fomr is
"handwritten".

Regards,

aj
