Doyle;
The U.S. is in competition with China in the Sudan and elsewhere. South Africa is said to be a BRIC component. I suspect that a consequence of U.S. decline is further spread of development outside of Asia. I'm especially cautious at the sense that Africa has no future within the current capitalist structure.

With the U.S. as world dominant power counter trends are suppressed. The rise of many centers asks the question of how to build upon rising development.

Within that as is obvious, sustainable technology adjusted to global climate change. It is in the interest of BRIC to alter and sustain their part of global power. Brazil, and South Africa seem likely centers of development, and that very change is likely in the context of global climate change initiatives. Decentralized sun power energy for example favors Africa as a continent.
thanks,
Doyle Saylor
