Severe would be a major exaggeration. NPR income is down, but not by critical amounts. Ditto listenership.
E.g.: There are two major ways of measuring listenership in the Arbitrons - number of listeners in the average quarter hour (AQH) and the total number of listeners in the course of a week (cume). WNYC's AQH is up 11% over the last three years, and its cume is down about 2%; WBAI's AQH is down 51%, and its cume is down 22%.
