For the record, I'm not optimistic nor pesimistic with respect to Obama as an individual. I'm optimistic about the robustness of the political sentiment he's tapped into. Obviously it is is unripe and, like Jim, I can see that a long series of struggles will very likely be required for us to shape up. But I see a pretty good opening for the left to advance. How far, it does depend on us to some extent. On the other hand, although not surprising, it is sobering to me that an educated person like Jim can so easily and grossly misunderstand me as to wonder if I'm suggesting that he or anybody else should lie or apologize for Obama's choices. A last clarification: I didn't attack Louis. I dismissed his phraseology, which is something else. Louis is perfectly capable of arguing with himself without anybody's help, thank you very much. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
