Huh? Is that why he is relying on Hillary Clinton and Rahm Emanuel? I
wonder what kind of people he would have picked if he was intent on the
status quo. Condoleezza Rice and Elliot Abrams? The difference is
completely lost on me.

Yea, it is pretty vague.

The American state has no permanent friends, only permanent interest. State
policy always collide with the will and personality of individuals in
office.

I am of the opinion that it is virtually impossible for the American state,
to safe guard its long term interest in the Middle East without a fundamental
shift in policy away from knee jerk support of Israel. There are other
factors involved such as the demographic within Israel and it growing Arab
population, as well as the "Arab" states. Then there is the "Russia/China"
center
of gravity with respects to Iran. US policy in the Middle East goes no where
without a shift in policy. This task is most certainly on the agenda.

This does not imply the death of American imperialism, merely a shift in
policy. Obama is the man for such a shift.

WL.
