Elizabeth Warren did a fabulous lecture about this where she showed that
the overconsumption lay in three areas: health, education, and housing.
Period. She looked at everything else and found flat or declining
consumption.
I also think it's a bit mad to take a population that is bombarded with
commercials every ten minutes of their conscious life to buy, buy, buy,
buy....and call them greedy.
